What happens when Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn puts a picture of him holding the Thor hammer on Instagram?

You get stories like this!

I’m starting to think this has nothing to being worthy.

Gunn was on the set of the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel when he posted the above image, perhaps teasing a cameo role for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the movie, due out next May. Whether Thor is in the movie or if just his hammer is in the movie — or if both will be featured in a post-credits scene that Gunn is also directing — we do not know.

What we do know is that Thor: Ragnarok — teased as a space-set road trip adventure featuring Thor and the Hulk — is the Marvel movie that will immediately follow Guardians 2. And seeing as both films are set away from earth, it would make sense for the Guardians to encounter Thor at some point.

Since Marvel tends to wait a bit longer before they film their post-credits scenes, one would assume Thor will be in the actual movie. Then again, his presence makes the most sense in a post-credits scenario — especially with Ragnarok following Guardians 2 on the Marvel release slate — so if we were to take a wild guess, we’d chalk this pic up to a moment in the credits.

What do you think?
