Among the many Star Wars vets returning for The Force Awakens is Warwick Davis, who played Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi and multiple characters in The Phantom Menace. You may also know him as the star of Willow, the Leprechaun franchise and the show Life’s Too Short. He’s also in all of the Harry Potter movies plus LabyrinthRay and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

In addition to the new Star Wars movie(s), Davis will soon be seen as the lead character in an indie comedy called ShortFellas. That is, if it can find the funds to be made. The movie has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise $870,610 for the project, which will be written and directed by relative newcomer Richard Johnstone (Vampires).

Davis will be joined by a bunch of other diminutive actors, including Graham Hughes (Clash of the Titans) and fellow Willow and Harry Potter actors Jon Key, Craig Salisbury and Sam Davis, who happens to be Warwick’s wife. Because it’s a heist movie, about a group of little persons robbing a casino to help a friend pay for a friend’s daughter’s operation, it easily reminds us of Time Bandits but with more heart.

The perks for pledging your financial support are the usual lot, including signed merchandise. But if they really want to get the funds pouring in quick they should offer stuff directly aimed at Star Wars and Harry Potter fans. Nothing on the level of a signed Force Awakens script, but surely there’s some possible incentives that Lucasfilm and Warner Bros., respectively, would be okay with.

For the moment, ShortFellas does have a trailer, though it’s apparently a kind of proof of concept preview given that the actual movie hasn’t begun shooting yet. Watch Davis introduce the campaign and that trailer here:
