Casting departments spend often months looking at an absurd amount of auditions (it can be in the thousands for major movies), trying to find that needle in the haystack. And even once they think they’ve found someone, they have to pass through a whole string of other department heads and studio execs. The Hunger Games series director Francis Lawrence once told us that the process often requires so many different people’s approval that “It’s amazing anyone ever gets cast.”

And so when the right person finally comes along, all of the stars align and someone is actually cast in a movie, it’s a borderline magical thing. And if you want to see that moment take place, you can watch this video for Disney’s new animated movie, Moana. It not only introduces us to 14-year-old Hawaiian actress Auli’i Cravalho, but it also features the exact moment that Disney told her she was cast in the movie about a young girl who journeys out into the ocean and meets a demi-god (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) who shares her adventure.

And if that video hasn’t already warmed your heart enough, here’s the incredible moment Steven Spielberg told Henry Thomas he was cast in E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.
